About Me

I am  an empathetic, compassionate and experienced social worker and counsellor who utilises a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to assist people to make positive changes in their lives.

I have been a social worker for many years and in that time have provided counselling and support to a wide range of people. I can support you with various issues such as life transitions, work stress, relationship and parenting challenges, grief & loss, anxiety and depression.

I believe in working with the person rather than the problem, and aim to help you find ways to live the life that you dream of, no longer trapped by the repetitive patterns of behaviour that are not serving you.

I use a variety of evidenced based approaches, but particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and compassion focused approaches, to help you achieve this.

Special Interests

I have worked extensively with people with severe depression and anxiety and have developed a strong interest and skill base in assisting people overcome these issues.

Throughout my career I have also had substantial experience with carers, - parents of children with disabilities, and adults caring for an ageing or disabled parent or spouse  -  and I believe that counselling can be effective in ameliorating the grief, stress and sometimes exhaustion they can be faced with through their caring role. I have experience with NDIS and My Aged Care and can provide some assistance in negotiating these systems.

I have assisted parents of children with disabilities to deal with the many unique challenges they face, including managing behavioural issues. I am an accredited provider of the Triple P parenting program - Stepping Stones - with which we can work together to gain a better understanding of your child's behaviour and determine more effective ways of approaching it.

I am also interested in supporting people through bereavement and life transitions.

While I work with adults of all ages, I am also particularly passionate about assisting mature and older adults to work through this complex life stage.
